The National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) invite proposals from art students and any other youth (15-35 years old) for a competition to select the best drawing/s for a mural (wall painting) which depicts the history and culture of Janjanbureh.

Winner/s: 

Winner/s will be invited to exchange with the NCAC and the Master Artist to adjust his/her proposal in accordance with the generally accepted history of Janjanbureh and to discuss the materials needed for the implementation of the artwork on the walls of the Janjanbureh Youth Centre.

The Winner will benefit from a two-week mentorship programme on arts entrepreneurship with the Master Artist, and will be remunerated to participate in the execution of the painting on the walls of the Youth Centre.

Selection Criteria

The choice of drawings rests with the artist's vision but should be guided by a historical understanding of the Island from the earliest days to present day. Drawings can depict events, places and personalities of the Island community

All submissions should be made on A4 paper with no limit on the number of entries for any one competitor.
