PRESS RELEASE

National Accreditation & Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) in collaboration with International Trade Center (ITC) has developed national curricula for Garment Construction to be used by Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Institutions in the Gambia. NAQAA is delighted to inform the public that the said curricula are now available at NAQAA for collection and also downloadable on both the NAQAA and ITC websites.

The curricula would ensure that youth and women in the Gambia access and acquire marketable skills in Garment Construction to allow them to either become gainful employees or become employers. The curricula were developed together with industry experts, curriculum specialists, entrepreneurs, and educationists. The curricula were developed taking into consideration Gambian labour market needs,  and global fashion trends in order to ensure graduates are fit for the labour market.

NAQAA would like to encourage TVET institutions to pick copies and strictly follow the curricula in delivering the mentioned programme. The curricula cover both Certificate and Diploma levels. Each programme has adequately catered for practical work and industrial work placement.

NAQAA will continue to lead the development of relevant occupational standards and curricula to facilitate quality TVET delivery particularly for the youth and women of the Gambia with the support of the Government and development partners.
